Dear Parents and Students,

We hope you are staying healthy and not going too stir crazy during the school closing! Even though your children are not on campus with us, we want you to know that they are our top priority! Keeping their minds sharp and not losing what they have already learned this year is extremely important for their success.

In order to do that, we are extremely excited to provide them with some new and creative opportunities to learn during this time of extended closure. Our teachers and administrators are working diligently to provide students with core learning content that will keep students engaged in their learning. While none of us can predict how long our school will be impacted by this situation, it is so important that students return to classes, whenever that actually is, with all the knowledge they had when they left for spring break.

Starting Monday, March 23rd, parents and students will be able to access weekly lessons that aim to review and reteach skills they have already learned this year. There will not be any new material or lessons introduced during this time. The learning materials offered are intended to remind students of what they have learned so they don’t forget their learning during the time we are out. Although the lessons students complete will not be graded, it is very important that students work through all of the lessons.

The Henderson ISD Google Classroom may be accessed using the following link:

There is information on the home screen to help parents understand how to access the lessons and activities. At the very top of the website are links to each of the campus sites so all of the learning material can be accessed in one area.

The lessons for each day are not meant to take up the same amount of time as an entire school day. The lessons, activities, and videos are meant to refresh student minds on what they have learned and practice the skills by producing a product, test their memory on the skills they have learned, or simply practice their learning by reading or answering questions. Many teachers have produced videos to help remind students what they have learned this year and provide their students with words of encouragement during this time.

Teachers will provide contact information on their sites if there are questions along the way.

We hope this new online learning website provides students a way to stay encouraged, remain engaged, and provides an opportunity to learn along the way.
