HENDERSON, TX — Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election show incumbents Jean Williams and Justin Scarborough winning in their respective Henderson ISD Board of Trustees races.

In the Single Member District 1 race, Williams received 211 votes, or 60 percent, while Janet Tate-Furlow received 142 votes, or 40 percent. A total of 353 votes were cast in that contest. Williams has served more than 20 years as an HISD trustee.

In the Single Member District 2 race, Scarborough received 327 votes, or 72 percent, compared with Pedro Juarez’s 128 votes, or 28 percent. A total of 455 votes were cast in that race. Scarborough was appointed to the seat last year following the previous trustee’s resignation.

Lou Madsen is set to represent Single Member District 5. The election for that seat was canceled by the board in accordance with state law after Madsen was unopposed. The seat had previously been held by Sonny Simmons, who was elected to the board last year but did not seek reelection.

All three trustees are expected to take their oaths of office Tuesday when the board meets to canvass the election results and swear in new members.
