HENDERSON, TX — Henderson High School honored its newest members of the National Honor Society during an induction ceremony held this past Sunday, Nov. 16, at Henderson Middle School.
The program opened with a welcome from HISD Assistant Superintendent Dea Henry, followed by a presentation on the significance of NHS membership delivered by Senior Morgan Bradley, NHS President. NHS officers led the traditional candle-lighting ceremony highlighting the four pillars of the National Honor Society including “Scholarship” by Yareli Tovar-Murillo, Vice President, “Service” by Maggie Briscoe, Secretary, “Leadership” by Rory Richardson, Treasurer and “Character” by Rubi Mejia-Suarez, Reporter. Each new inductee was then invited to light their own candle.
NHS Advisor Casi Dickerson introduced the new members and led students in reciting the National Honor Society Creed. Principal Shannon Dickerson provided closing remarks and congratulated the students on their accomplishment. Organizers also thanked the HHS Photography Department for documenting the event and to the parents, teachers, staff, and the HISD Board of Trustees for their continued support of student achievement.
