Keeping students safe is one of HISD’s primary goals and we often teach and practice how to respond in situations that could be dangerous. In fact, the Texas Education Code (TEC) requires districts such as HISD to train in a variety of areas on a regular basis. In accordance with TEC, Sec. 38.030, we will offer instruction each year on how to use a bleeding control station so students will know how to use it if it is ever needed. As required by law, the training is led by a school resource officer or staff member. The training is offered to students enrolled at the campus in grades seven or higher. The training is not mandatory; it is voluntary.
Students will have the opportunity to sign up for the training later this week. A parent permission form will be sent home December 5th for those students who signed up for the training. Only students who return the signed parent permission form in the affirmative will be allowed to participate in the training after Christmas Break.
Please contact Stephanie Gatlin, HISD Health & Wellness Coordinator, at 903-655-5037 if you have any questions.

Dear Parents - We need your help!
The Center for Effective Schools (which is an initiative of the Texas Education Agency) will begin administering feedback surveys to families across the state. Your views on matters like the way students at school are taught, and your and your child’s connection to school are crucial. These surveys will give you a unique opportunity to provide anonymous feedback about your experiences in these areas and others.
Please complete this survey and help leadership at Wylie Elementary & Northside Intermediate make improvements.
Once again, anything you share will be completely anonymous. Also, students on campus will participate in a similar survey. Please click on the following link to complete the survey.

Estimados padres:

One of our HMS football players experienced a medical issue this evening at Lions Stadium during the 8th grade football game. The student was treated by our UT-Health trainers on the sidelines. Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. We wish him a speedy recovery.
The power has been restored to both our NIS and HHS campuses. Students are returning to their classes.
