The HHS Ag Issues team brought their A-game to the Admin Office this morning!
They practiced their full presentation in preparation for next week’s district competition, and let’s just say, they’re more than ready.
We’re proud of their hard work, confidence, and the way they represent our Tradition of Excellence at Henderson High School.
Good luck next week, Ag Issues team, go show everyone what Lion Pride looks like!

Thank you, Coach Toon and Coach Sikes!
Big thanks to Coaches Toon and Sikes for joining the KWRD morning show today! They highlighted tonight’s final middle school football games and gave everyone a sneak peek at the upcoming basketball and soccer seasons.
We appreciate KWRD for the invitation each week and the chance to share the great things happening at Henderson Middle School as we continue our tradition of excellence.

🎃 What a night! 🌺
Big thanks to everyone who came out for Trick or Trunk at Henderson Middle School tonight — we had a spook-tacular turnout and so many creative costumes and car displays!
And a special shoutout to our Henderson High School teachers and staff who made tonight possible. Since our Lions will be in Chapel Hill tomorrow for the Halloween game, we moved the fun up a night — and it was worth it! 🦁🏈

Keeping students safe is one of HISD’s primary goals and we often teach and practice how to respond in situations that could be dangerous. In fact, the Texas Education Code (TEC) requires districts such as HISD to train in a variety of areas on a regular basis. In accordance with TEC, Sec. 38.030, we will offer instruction each year to students in grade 7 or higher on how to use a bleeding control station so students will know how to use it if it is ever needed. The training is offered in two parts to students enrolled at the campus in grades seven or higher. The first part is online training and the second part is in-person skills training. Stop the Bleed training for students is not mandatory; it is voluntary. If you would like your student to participate in Stop the Bleed training, please follow the instructions below:
• Go to the HISD website at
www.hendersonisd.org• Under Departments click on “Health Services”
• Click on “About Health Services”
• Scroll to the bottom of the “HISD Health and Wellness” page and click on the link, “Optional Stop the Bleed Training for Students”. The letter will give you instructions on how to complete the online training and in-person skills training.
Please contact Stephanie Gatlin, HISD Health & Wellness Coordinator, at 903-655-5037 if you have any questions.

October is Fentanyl Awareness Month, and we're joining the fight to spread knowledge and protect our communities. Fentanyl is a powerful and dangerous drug, and awareness is key in preventing its devastating consequences.

#OnePillKills
The safety and health of our students, staff, and visitors is a priority, and we want to be prepared to save the life of anyone exposed, even accidentally, to dangerous opioid drugs, such as fentanyl.
Action by the Texas Legislature (Senate Bill 629) allows school districts to implement a policy regarding, “the maintenance, administration, and disposal of opioid antagonists” at each campus in the district. These opioid antagonists can counter the effects of an overdose if administered quickly.
HISD has trained nurses, School Resource Officers (SROs), and staff who may administer Narcan, (Naloxone), an opioid antagonist, in the event of a possible drug overdose. Narcan will only be given in an emergency where someone is experiencing drug overdose symptoms or if it is known that drugs are involved. Narcan will not harm someone if opioids are not in their system.
If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Gatlin, HISD Health and Wellness Coordinator, at 903-655-5037.

Dear HISD families,
While our halls are dark and quiet for Fall Break, one of our computer systems apparently didn’t get the memo! It decided to keep working — and sent out a slew of automatic attendance calls to some of you just to stay busy.
We promise no one was skipping school! We’ve pulled the plug (literally) on the computer that really needed a vacation and will make sure everything behaves when school resumes on Tuesday.
Thanks for your patience — and enjoy the rest of your break!

Fentanyl is a serious threat to our children’s safety. Educate yourself about the risks and signs of fentanyl use and have conversations with your children about the dangers of this deadly opioid. Your awareness can make all the difference.

HISD Parent and Students: Please support your students by making sure they are at school every day--all day. When students miss any part of the school day, notes need to be turned in for every student absence. An "Absence" includes missing an entire school day, part of day or period (even just one period) or signing out early. Five parent notes are excused from truancy for the school year in HISD.
Remember: Ten absences = Saturday School
