UIL PHYSICALS FOR BAND, DRILL TEAM, AND CHEER FOR INCOMING 9th, and INCOMING 11th GRADE STUDENTS If you have a student entering 9th or 11th grade and they participate in cheerleading, drill team, or band please be anticipating a call from UT Health to schedule an appointment for a UIL physical. The physicals through UT Health are free. UIL physicals are required by law to participate in cheerleading, drill team, and band. Some students may have completed a UIL physical through athletics in April. If so, they do not need another one. You may choose to take your student to their primary care provider for the UIL physical. If your student sees their primary care provider for the physical, please make sure the current UIL Physical form is completed and returned to their school. The UIL Physical form may be found at uiltexas.org by clicking on the Athletics tab then the Forms tab. Scroll to Medical Forms and click on Athletic and Marching Band Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation. You may email questions to sgatlin@hendersonisd.org. Have a great Summer!

HISD Families, Like you, we are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. We share in the heartbreak we are all feeling for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence. School should and must be a place where students feel completely safe and secure. As an added precaution, we are working with our local law enforcement officials to have an increased police presence in and around our buildings for the rest of the week. We know that children and teens will process this news in different ways. Counselors are available at each of our school buildings to assist students who may need some extra support. We strongly encourage any students to stop by the counseling office at any time. Please join us in keeping the students, staff, and families of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Respectfully, Dr. Thurston B. Lamb, Jr. Superintendent Henderson ISD

Statement concerning toy gun found on HMS campus (May 23, 2022) Administrators at Henderson Middle School discovered a toy gun on campus this morning. After the initial investigation, it was determined the toy had been brought on campus by a student and then shown to other students. Once the toy was discovered, employees followed strict protocols to ensure the safety of students and staff. It was immediately obvious the item was a toy and no one was in danger at any time. There was also no disruption to class or campus activities. A full investigation into the case is ongoing and the student code of conduct, along with all appropriate disciplinary actions will be enforced. HISD remains committed to doing all we can to maintain a safe learning environment.

Estimado Padre/Tutor, ¡Ya es ese tiempo del ano otra vez! Por favor acuérdese de recoger los medicamentos de su hijo/a en la enfermería antes de que termine la escuela para el verano.
