Big thanks to the Kiwanis Club! 🥪🏈
We’re grateful to the Henderson Kiwanis Club for hosting Coach Ricky Meeks at lunch today! Coach shared his five pillars for building a strong, character-driven culture—not just on the field, but across our entire student body.

Dear HISD Families,
We are excited to announce the opportunity for parents to serve on the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for the 2025-2026 school year. SHAC plays an important role in promoting the health and well-being of our students by ensuring local community values are reflected in health education.
If you are interested in serving on SHAC, please complete the Google Form using the following link: https://www.hendersonisd.org/shacform
About SHAC:
• Texas Education Code 28.004 mandates that school districts establish a School Health Advisory Council.
• SHAC's responsibilities include providing recommendations to the school board on health program planning and promoting health initiatives.
• The majority of SHAC members must be parents who are not employed by HISD and have students enrolled in the district.
• SHAC meets four times per school year.
If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to contact Stephanie Gatlin, HISD Health and Wellness Coordinator, at 903-655-5037.

A Tradition of Excellence Lives On 🏈❤️
Henderson ISD is deeply honored to receive the incredible collection of football records from the late Mike Baughman, lovingly donated by his wife, Beverly. Spanning over four decades of Lion Football history, this collection of stats, rosters, depth charts, media clippings, and more is a true testament to the passion and dedication Mike had for our community.
As the voice of the Lions since the early 1990s, Mike’s impact on Henderson football is immeasurable. His meticulous record-keeping preserved the stories of countless players who left it all on the field every Friday night. Now, thanks to Beverly’s generosity, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations and uphold the tradition of excellence that defines Lion Football.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Beverly. The pride of the Lions lives on. 🦁❤️ #LionPride #ThankYouBeverly #HonoringMikeBaughman #TraditionOfExcellence

This afternoon, a student experienced a medical emergency at the Wylie Elementary campus. Our campus nurse and administrators responded to the classroom to assist, and an ambulance responded to provide further care. To allow easier access for first responders, the campus was placed on a brief "hold."
Our thoughts are with the student and their family during this time and we wish them a speedy recovery. Thank you for your understanding.

UPDATE: The source of the smoke at WEP and WPS was traced to a malfunction in the air conditioning equipment. There is no fire. All students are safe and will be returning to classes shortly. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Students at the WEP and WPS are being evacuated due to the presence of smoke in the common areas of the building. Fire crews are responding to the scene to investigate. All students are safe at this time.
We ask that parents please refrain from coming to the campuses at this time. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding.

An ambulance was dispatched to our Wylie Campuses a few minutes ago to assist a child nutrition employee who was experiencing a minor medical emergency. The campus was placed on a brief "hold" while first responders assisted the employee. All students are safe. The campus should return to normal classes soon.

Power has been restored at Wylie Primary and Wylie Elementary. Thank you for your patience as utility crews worked to resolve the issue. Schools are operating as normal.
